About compressor pedals, Eurorack sequencers, and EQ profiles

Last night I was looking into compressors, I was thinking of getting a compressor pedal for my piano sounds, something colorful, versatile and cheap, easier said than done of course, so I started checking out a couple of known classics from boss, dod and pigtronix. Then I ran into this awesome website with excellent info about many models written by Ovni Labs, whom I thank for his incredible contribution and insight into the capabilities and functions of dozens of compressors. He definitely helped me make my mind about which one I should get.

Here's the link, he also makes pedals I believe, like the OVNIFX Smoothie if I'm not mistaken.
Unfortunately, he seems to have stopped reviewing pedals according to basschat.co.uk

Eurorack sequencers

With that said, writing this post reminded me of another great resource but this time for sequencers, so why not list it here as well. This one is by Martin Doudoroff, a very complete list of sequencers in Eurorack format .

Mr Doudorof has even published comparisons of Stereo mixers, samplers and quantizers. Very helpful resource.

EQ profiles

While I'm at it, here's another amazing resource: the Autoeq tool which can help you equalize your cans, with tons of headphone profiles from knowledgable experts.

Nothing beats the work done by passionate people from the community, for the community. I say this without full knowledge of this project, so I may be talking over my head but as far as I can tell, this is a project by Mr. Jaakko Pasanen over at github, using information from different collaborators that like to hang out at incredible places like the Audio Science Review website and Head-fi. I'm not an active user in neither of these websites but I have learned so much from them and I'm really thankful for their sharing of vast amounts of knowledge and tips. I got my headphone amp based on some of their threads and I'm deeply grateful for their help, as I landed my hand on a truly amazing piece of engineering which I use every day with all my cans.

That's it for now, if I find good resources I'lll add them here later.

Recently someone asked me, "just to be clear, those vocal chops have been legally cleared right?"... And so just to be clear, none of the vocal chops have been legally cleared

journal

this, a sort of account of my music making days, like a journal about my experimenting and tripping with sound and noise. Just like some old websites that I once made on geocities and tripod that I can still see out there on the world wide web, cool memory trips...
